When you begin your studies, you will be provided with a reading list. This might look like a MS Word document, a list within Canvas, or a Resource List embedded within Canvas. It is important that you look through this list and learn how to find and access the materials you are being asked to engage with. As well as books and journal articles, the lists often also include items like blog posts, videos, podcasts and other types of source.

What to read

Although you are expected to read things on these lists, as well as read more widely from academic literature you find for yourself, you may not be expected to read every single item on the list. With Resource Lists, the module leader may have indicated which items on the list are essential, recommended or background reading. This can help you prioritise what you are going to read. They may also write notes about what they expect you to read, for example which chapters of a book they want you to read for a specific section of the course, or which part of a journal article to pay particular attention to for later discussion.

Where to find your reading list

To find Resource Lists, look for the link on the left hand side of your Canvas module that says Resource List. If there is a one for the module, it will be embedded within that page (otherwise there will be a document somewhere else within Canvas or the module information).
