There are some platforms which can help you to compile your reference lists, like Cite This For Me. We do recommend that you know how to write references out on your own first because it is an effective way of learning what things should look like. Automatic systems sometimes make mistakes and you need to be able to understand how to correct them.

Make sure the information you input is correct (if you give a citation generator incorrect information, it will probably give you an inaccurate citation)
Make sure you designate the correct medium, version, and/or edition for each source
Make sure to use reputable, accurate sources
Double check the citation the generator gives you with a reference you know is correct
Make sure you are using the citation or reference in a way that makes sense
Remember that citation generators can do a lot of work for you, but they can't do the thinking for you
